Marietta, GA – Pedestrian and One Other Killed in Fatal Crash on I-75

4/18 Marietta, GA – Pedestrian and One Other Killed in Fatal Crash on I-75

Marietta, GA (April 18, 2023) – At 5:30 a.m. on the morning of Tuesday, April 18, one pedestrian and a second person were killed in a fatal collision in Marietta.

According to Marietta Police, the accident happened in the northbound lanes of I-75 around the area of the South Loop. Police claim that a young woman experienced a flat tire on her vehicle and pulled off onto the left shoulder. She got out of her vehicle and was attempting to change the tire when she was suddenly struck by a vehicle. The vehicle was then involved in a chain-reaction crash, leading to damages in several vehicles.

Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The young woman, who has not yet been identified, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. One other person was also killed in the crash.

The entire roadway was blocked, and a red alert was issued in the area for some time after the accident. This led to extensive delays until the scene was cleared.

The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues. Police will update with new information as it becomes available.

Our warmest condolences go out to the family and friends of the victims who lost their lives in this accident.
