Eatonton, GA (April 26, 2023) – One person lost their life in a fatal truck crash that took place on a major roadway in Eatonton on Monday, April 24.

According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened around 4:25 p.m. at the intersection of GA-286 and Fuller Chapel Road. Police confirmed that a tow truck was traveling in the area when it entered the intersection at the same time as a Dodge Ram 2500 due to reasons that are not fully known. The Ram 2500 was extensively damaged in the accident. Police confirmed that the pickup truck burst into flames after the accident.

Several local responders, including Eatonton paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the Ram, who has not yet been formally identified, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. The driver of the tow truck was rushed to the hospital by a medical helicopter for treatment of serious injuries.

The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for several hours after the collision.
