Rincon, GA – Elderly Woman Killed in Pedestrian Crash on S Columbia Ave
Rincon, GA (April 29, 2023) – At around 11:00 a.m. on the morning of Friday, April 28, an elderly woman was tragically killed in a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred in the town of Rincon.
According to Rincon Police, the accident happened in the parking lot of the Walmart on South Columbia Avenue. Police confirmed that a driver was backing out of a space in the parking lot when they made a turn, striking a pedestrian who was walking across the lot. The driver was traveling at a low speed at the time.
Several Rincon responders, including EMS crews and firefighters, were dispatched to the scene. The pedestrian, who has since been identified as an 87-year-old woman, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries.
The area was blocked off for an extended period of time after the accident. Police did not say if the driver was charged for their role in the accident.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the collision remains ongoing.
