Atlanta, GA – Tractor-Trailer Fire Shuts Down Interstate 285

Atlanta, GA (March 14, 2023) – A tractor-trailer caught fire on I-285 southbound in Cobb County, Georgia, on Tuesday afternoon, leading to the closure of all lanes of traffic. The incident caused significant traffic disruptions, with motorists being advised to avoid the area if possible.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and blocked off traffic at Atlanta Road while setting up a water shuttle operation to put out the flames. SkyFOX 5 captured footage of the scene from above, showing that the fire had been extinguished.

Despite the quick response by emergency crews, only one lane has been reopened so far, and it remains unclear when the wreck will be fully cleared from the roadway. Meanwhile, traffic continues to back up for several miles along the interstate due to the tractor-trailer fire.

As of now, no injuries have been reported. However, the incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safe driving practices, especially when traveling on busy highways and interstates.

Truck Accidents In Georgia
Millions of preventable accidents happen every year in the U.S. and Georgia is no stranger to these accidents. Though the majority of collisions on our roads involve passenger vehicles, there is also a large number of tractor-trailer collisions every year. In just one recent year’s time in the U.S., over 119,000 people were seriously injured in truck accidents due to the recklessness of others. Truck accidents are known for being incredibly catastrophic and dangerous due to the fact that trucks are so large compared to other vehicles that navigate our roads. If you have been hurt in a truck accident that is not your fault, you should speak with an attorney that you can trust.

Because truck drivers spend a long period of time on our roads, they are more likely to engage in negligent acts such as distracted driving or falling asleep behind the wheel. If you have been hurt in a truck crash, it is crucial that you speak with an Atlanta truck accident attorney in your time of need. An attorney will be able to help you with many aspects of your claim and help you prove that any of the following parties are liable for your accident:

Truck drivers
Trucking companies
Manufacturers of truck parts
Cargo loaders
You should be prepared to speak with an Atlanta personal injury lawyer who specializes in 18-Wheeler claims, soon after your accident.
