Ellabell, GA (May 2, 2023) – On Saturday, April 29, a worker was killed in a fatal construction accident that took place at a plant in Ellabell.

According to Bryan County officials, the accident happened at an electric vehicle plant owned by Hyundai that is being built in the area. Information provided by Hyundai Motor Group states that a worker was working on a structure in the plant’s paint shop when he fell three stories. They discovered that part of his safety harness failed while he was working.

Several local responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were immediately dispatched to the scene following the accident. The worker, who has not yet been formally identified, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to trauma caused by the accident. Nobody else was injured in the accident.

The area was blocked off for an extended period of time after the incident. It is not known when work resumed in the area.

An investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration will update with any new information as it becomes available.
