Fleming, GA (March 1, 2023) – On Wednesday morning, March 1, one person was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident on a highway in Fleming.

According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened on Highway 17 around the area of the Leroy Coffer Highway. Police confirmed that, around 6 a.m., a pedestrian was walking in the area when they were suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle on the highway. The driver of the vehicle allegedly fled the scene.

Deputies were called to the scene and found that the pedestrian, identified only as an adult male, was lying on the road in the area where he was left after the accident. Paramedics tragically pronounced him dead at the scene. Nobody else was hurt as a result of the accident.
