Adel, GA (September 30, 2020) – On Monday morning, September 28, one person was killed in a fatal hit-and-run accident in Adel.
Cook County officials confirmed that the accident took place on South Elm Street. A driver struck another vehicle and then fled the scene of the accident. The vehicle was quickly identified as a Chevy Tahoe SUV that officials later found parked in some woods around the area. They have not yet made an arrest.
The Dodge Avenger remained at the scene following the collision. A male driver was carpooling and had a 53-year-old male passenger with him on his way to work. The passenger was taken to a hospital in Valdosta and passed away while there.
Due to the severity of the accident, a portion of the roadway was blocked throughout the morning and afternoon.
Georgia State Patrol officials continue their investigation into the accident.
