Jefferson, GA (October 26, 2020) – On Saturday, October 24, a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian crash took place at an intersection in Jefferson.
According to police, the accident took place at the intersection of Athens Street and Athens Highway. A 49-year-old female pedestrian was crossing the street at the intersection when she was struck by two vehicles. One of the vehicles immediately fled the scene of the accident. Police have not yet found the driver responsible.
Paramedics and numerous other parties were dispatched to the scene of the accident. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The roadway was closed down in the area for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released but the Gainesville Police Department continues its investigation into the accident.
