Mableton, GA (October 20, 2020) – Around 11 p.m. on Monday night, October 20, a fatal crash took place at an intersection in Mableton that took one life.
According to authorities, the crash took place at the intersection of Mableton Parkway and Lee Industrial Boulevard. A 20-year-old woman was driving north on Mableton Parkway in her Dodge and was approaching the intersection. At the same time, a 51-year-old woman was approaching the intersection in her Toyota.
A black Mercedes and a black Ford Mustang had stopped on Mableton Parkway at the traffic light. The Toyota entered the intersection, which is when the Dodge collided with the SUV on its left side. Police confirmed that the driver of the Dodge ran the red light. All four vehicles became involved in the collision, which led to severe damages.
The 51-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. There were two passengers in her vehicle, identified as a 74-year-old woman and a 14-year-old boy. They were hospitalized and their current conditions are not yet known.
The 20-year-old driver of the Dodge was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with serious injuries but she is expected to recover.
The roadway was blocked in numerous lanes for several hours as police cleared the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
