Calhoun, GA (February 24, 2023) – Before midnight on Friday, February 24, a pedestrian accident that led to severe injuries took place in Calhoun.

According to Gordon County officials, the accident happened in the northbound lanes of I-75 around the area of mile marker 318. Police confirmed that a pedestrian was walking in the area when they were suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle in the area due to reasons that are not yet known. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene to cooperate with police when they showed up.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, was hurt in the accident. The party was rushed to the hospital for treatment of severe injuries, though their current condition is not yet known.

Several northbound lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene. A traffic alert was issued, which led to extensive delays.

No further details have been released, but the investigation into the collision remains ongoing.
