Ellabell, GA (February 25, 2023) – On Friday night, February 23, a woman was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident that took place on a highway in Ellabell.

According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened around 7:30 p.m. on GA-280 around the area of Groover Hill Road. Police confirmed that two women were inside a vehicle that was struck by a second vehicle on the highway. The women pulled over and got out of their vehicle when they were standing outside the car on the highway. They were suddenly struck by a vehicle that was traveling on the highway and did not stop in time for them.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Both female pedestrians were rushed to the hospital with severe injuries. One of the women was tragically pronounced dead while there. The other has been listed in critical condition.

Due to the severity of the accident, a large portion of the road was blocked in the area for some time. Police cleared the scene after several hours.

No further details have been released, including whether or not the driver will be facing any charges. The investigation into the accident continues.
