Gainesville, GA (April 16, 2023) – A critical pedestrian accident took place on a roadway in Gainesville on Thursday, April 13, that led to injuries.

According to Gainesville Police, the accident happened around 8:38 p.m. on Harmony Church Road. Two teens were allegedly walking in the area along with the traffic flow. Suddenly, an SUV was traveling in the same direction and did not see the teens, according to the driver. The SUV struck one of the teens, which caused him to be thrown into a nearby mailbox. He then landed in a ditch off the side of the road.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The injured teen was critically injured and rushed to Northeast Georgia Medical Center. He remains in critical condition at this time.

The driver of the SUV, who has not yet been formally identified, was not hurt in the accident. It is not known if they are facing any charges.

No further details have been released regarding the incident, but the investigation into the collision continues.
