Alto, GA (April 15, 2023) – Around 5 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, April 13, two people sustained injuries in a car accident at an Alto intersection.

According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened at the intersection of Gainesville Highway and Crane Mill Road. Police confirmed that a 17-year-old was headed north on the highway in a Ford Focus with a 16-year-old passenger. A Honda Passport was attempting to make a left turn at the intersection. The Ford struck the Honda, which caused the Honda to slam into a third vehicle in the southbound lanes. The vehicles involved in the collision were extensively damaged in the collision.

Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The 17-year-old driver was injured and taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center. The driver of the Honda, who has been identified as a local 31-year-old, was also injured and hospitalized. They are expected to be okay.

Police charged the driver of the Ford Focus with following too closely and failing to exercise due care. The roadway was blocked in several lanes at the intersection until the scene was cleared.

No further details have been released, but the investigation continues.
