3/7 Gainesville, GA – DUI Three-Vehicle Crash with Injuries on Mtn View Rd

Gainesville, GA (March 7, 2023) – A man was arrested following a DUI accident that led to injuries in Gainesville on Saturday, March 4.

According to Gainesville officials, the accident happened on Mountain View Road around a left-hand curve. Police confirmed that a 22-year-old man from Gainesville was traveling east in his Ford Fusion in the area when he failed to maintain his lane. This caused his vehicle to head into the other lane of traffic, colliding with a Dodge Dakota. The Dakota then ran off the side of the road and slammed into a mailbox before it came to a rest. The Fusion continued onward and collided head-on with a Honda Civic. The involved vehicles were badly damaged.

Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene. The driver of the Civic sustained multiple broken bones in the accident and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Their current condition is not yet known.

The 22-year-old Fusion driver was charged following the accident, as he was driving drunk at the time of the accident. He received charges of failing to maintain his lane, driving while unlicensed, driving under the influence, causing serious injury by vehicle, and having an open container of alcohol.

The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.

We offer our warmest sympathies to the parties who have been hurt in this accident. We hope that they will receive a speedy recovery.
