4/28 Gainesville, GA – Several Injured in Car Accident on Sardis Rd

Gainesville, GA (April 28, 2023) – Around 3:45 p.m. on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 25, several people sustained injuries in a car accident in Gainesville.

According to Gainesville Police, the accident happened on Sardis Road. Police confirmed that a 17-year-old was traveling west in a Dodge Charger behind a 16-year-old driving a Chevrolet Silverado. The Silverado came to a stop behind a Kia Telluride when, suddenly, the Charger slammed into the back of the Silverado. This sent the Telluride forward, slamming into a Kia Rando in front of it. The vehicles all sustained severe damages in the collision.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The minor driving the Silverado, the 18-year-old driver of the Rondo, and an 18-year-old passenger inside the Rondo were all injured in the accident. These three parties were taken to NGMC Hospital for treatment but are expected to be okay. The driver of the Charger also sustained minor injuries but was treated at the scene and not hospitalized.

Police confirmed that a large portion of the roadway was blocked following the collision. The minor who was driving the Charger was cited with following too closely.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues. Police will update with more information as it becomes available.

We want to offer our warmest sympathies to the parties who have been hurt in this collision.
